OAS - Outcomes Assessment System
FCAR - Faculty Course Assessment Report

We design OAS to streamline and help improve each program's effectiveness in teaching delivery and gauging student learning meets targeted learning outcomes. We adopt the FCAR assessment model to allow automation in data collection, analysis, and action item generation to close the loop for improvement. Automation is possible because EvalTools uses:

EvalTools® Survey

Comes with the following types of questionnaires

EvalTools® OAS is embedded within the Learning  Management System for continuous and consistent assessment.

Adaptable to other instructional assessment systems. Easily identified areas of concern with performance vectors. Effective summative and formative features to gauge student learning

EvalTools® comes with advanced survey instrument that is integrated well with the rest of the direct assessment instruments that give you a 360 view of your program's strengths and weaknesses for outcomes assessment.

Enhance learning activities, EvalTools® LMS makes planing your courses easier. It allows you to easily manage and access your LMS material/resources easily.

  • Ensure course meets the established standards/outcomes criteria
  • EvalTools® provides structure for your curriculum framework
  • Teach using your EvalTools® learning plan
  • Stay organized

EvalTools® can do it all for you

It is particularly useful for faculty in generating their own annual self-evaluation report. EvalTools® allows faculty to generate their own trend course-exit survey data.

Just to brag

EvalTools® deployed 76 surveys that collected seamlessly over 7000 responses, it provides detailed data in a convenient format for analysis resulting in an excellent 10-year accreditation for the University.

Email Alert

You could batch-send alerting emails to faculty to remind them of the class response rate for the end-of-term class survey, or the course info/syllabi setup. You could also send batch emails to students.

EvalTools® LMS

EvalTools® LMS is more like an Instructional Improvement System (IIS) rather than a traditional Learning Management System (LMS).

Course Info Module

EvalTools® 6 provides standard Course Info template that maintains a consistent format of syllabus for all courses. Once course info entered, the Dean Office will have instant access to all these course syllabiwithout having to chase after any faculty for completion. In addition, all the syllabi can be readily made available online for the public if so desired so that Dean Office didn’t have to dig further for a course.

FCAR Methodology

EvalTools® focuses on gauging teaching and learning effectiveness by providing means to faculty to access their teaching/student learning in formative or summative manner using FCAR methodology. Faculty can strategically select assignments that correlate to assessing a Course Outcome (CO), Performance Indicator (PI) or a Student Outcome (SO).

At time, the most mundane task is the most frustrated one. To save time and frustration, EvalTools® 6 allows faculty to download one assignment at a time or entire set of selected assignments at a time for grading purpose. For uploading, faculty can simultaneously upload multiple files together.

Rubric Grading

Some assignments just do better with using a rubric. EvalTools® 6 provides standard rubric library or build-your-own rubric or even share-your-rubric feature. Figure 11 shows a rubric setup interface. Grading using rubric is time consuming. EvalTools® 6 allows entry of individual score for each dimension of the rubric

Course Portfolio

We are familiar with student portfolio. How about Course Portfolio for faculty? Each course, each term, EvalTools® will automatically collect objective evidence from direct assessment (students’ work) or indirect assessment (survey results) to form a course portfolio for that course.

EvalTools® OAS

EvalTools® is the most advanced toolset for outcomes assessment. It integrates proven best assessment practices, including a Rubric-driven Assessment Model and an FCAR Assessment model. EvalTools® has over 14 years of proven results in preparing programs for ABET accreditation. We have accomplished major achievements with ABET, Middle States accreditation at several programs with implementation of the latest methodologies and systems for outcomes assessment.

EvalTools® OAS is designed to address the following important issues

  • Identify strengths and weaknesses in the curriculum for quality improvement
  • Gauge the level of success in meeting program outcomes/educational objectives
  • Enhance teaching effectiveness via a performance-based evaluation process
  • Effectively track/document “closing the loop” on outcomes assessment

What’s more: Soon-to-be available features

Reporting Template – Most of the toolsets provides piece-wide reporting features that you will need to put them together for you own program accreditation preparation. EvalTools® 6 will be the first to provide a full-reporting-template (ABET) that allows you to construct your self-study report online.

Performance Indicators (PI) can be designed to measure breath or depth. In either case, the question remains on the roll-up data from each FCAR at course level being used to compute the aggregate average of a PI. EvalTools® 6 gives you a greater flexibility in classifying PI into three domains according to Bloom’s Taxonomy that applies to different levels of courses.

In addition to PI Classification, if your PI definition focuses on breath, then course-level classification will give you another way of assessing your PI. The course-level classifications are: Introduction, Re-enforced, and Master/Assessed-Level.

This is the most advanced feature in outcomes assessment. You could refine and separate a class that has multiple-major students in meeting their corresponding programs’ outcomes. This feature is particularly useful for a department having multiple programs that have common courses in meeting different sets of student outcomes. EvalTools® is the ONLY toolset that has this feature.

To make life easier for the ABET evaluator during a visit to your campus, EvalTools® rolls up a complete electronic objective evidence site for the ease of examining the evidence extracted from the course portfolio in EvalTools®.

EvalTools® CIMS

Closing-the-loop activities can in general be classified into two main areas course-level improvement and beyond-the-course-level improvement, i.e., program-level improvement. FCAR provides an effective means in capturing course-level improvement by tracking reflection and suggested action items. Figure 15 shows a sample of the summarized action items.

EvalTools® CIMS can do it all for you
